CatCulate — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15 June 2026 · Last updated: 14 July 2026
CatCulate ("CatCulate", "we", "us", or "our") provides a mobile application that helps cat owners track their cats' meals and nutrition and receive AI-assisted nutrition insights (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account information — your email address, and (if you sign in with Google) your name and Google account identifier. We use Google Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In to create and secure your account.
- Cat profiles — information you enter about your cats, such as name, age, weight, breed, activity level, reproductive status, and health status.
- Meal logs — the foods, portions, ingredients, nutrition values, meal times, and notes you record.
- Preferences — settings such as your feeding mode, dietary preferences, units, and notification choices.
Information collected automatically:
- Basic technical and usage data needed to operate the App reliably (for example, error logs and a push-notification token if you enable reminders).
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or financial information. We do not use advertising identifiers, and the App does not contain third-party advertising. If you use photo meal logging, the photo you snap is sent securely to Google's Gemini API to identify the food, is used only for that analysis, and is not stored on our servers.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the App and your account;
- Store and display your cats' profiles, meal logs, and nutrition tracking;
- Generate AI nutrition scorecards and recommendations, plus a personalized coaching note. To do this, your cat's profile and recent meal data are sent securely to Google's Gemini API through our backend (a Google Cloud Function) to produce the analysis;
- Send reminders and notifications you have enabled;
- Protect against abuse and keep the service secure and within operating limits.
3. How your information is stored and processed
Your data is stored and processed using Google Firebase and Google Cloud Platform (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and related services). Access to your data is restricted by security rules so that you can only read and write your own account's data.
AI analysis is performed using the Google Gemini API on a paid (billing-enabled) tier. On this tier, the data you send for analysis is not used to train Google's models.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We share information only with the service providers that operate the App on our behalf, namely Google (Firebase, Google Cloud, and the Gemini API), acting as our data processors solely to provide the functionality described above. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can:
- Delete individual cats and their associated data from within the App;
- Delete your entire account and all data in the App — You tab → Account → Delete account & data. This permanently removes your account, cats, meals, and history, and cannot be undone;
- Request deletion of your entire account and associated data by contacting us at the email below. We will action verified requests within a reasonable time.
See also: how to delete your account & data.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. You may also stop all collection by deleting your account.
7. Children's privacy
The App is intended for adult cat owners and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
